What's on my iPod v.10

It's been so long since I've done one of these posts.. I feel it's time to bring it back, considering all the new music I've discovered and am currently loving. Enjoy! xo

I've been listening to Minus the Bears new album lately and it's awesome! However, Highly Refined Pirates will probably always be my favorite. Loved this song since high school; it conjures images of lying around in bed on a gray weekend morning (perfect for this current Nor'Easter weather!)

Islands has become a mainstay in my music choice lately. Their newest album is more down to earth and less space-y than previous; it's really working for them.

I just recently found Gates and I'm really impressed. This is my favorite song by them, the lyrics are really touching my soul.

This is another band I'm not too familiar with, but I am SO obsessed with this song! It flows so well, I love the guitar, and the lyrics
{it's hard to take risks, with a pessimist}

Naturally, there has to be a Circa song on here since their new album was just released this past August. It's awesome.
Classic, amazing vocals and the most perfect lines
{I won't share your anger, it doesn't do me any good to feel.. }

Lana Del Rey is my girl crush, and her words are so easy to identify with. The video is pure genius, and I love that they put Josh Kurpuis in it
{avid reader of his blog Kemosabe + the Lodge- check it out!}

What's on my iPod v.9 {friday edition}

Well, it's that time! Friday is upon us once more, and at the cusp of the weekend, here are a few songs that I've been loving.

Foxes- Home. Such a good song to get you moving/motivated

The Receiving End of Sirens- Weightless Underwater. I used to be obsessed with TREOS, now I’m obsessed with this song.

Ben Gibbard- the Dream of Evan and Chan *the lyrics in this song mean so much.

Symmetry- Airplane. I am guilty of loving underground rap. And he’s from my state, Rhode Island! Dusty Pickup is one of the best hip hop cds I’ve ever heard.

The Middle East- Blood. This song is so sweet, and the video is so creative

The Dear Hunter- Poison Woman. The best part about the Dear Hunter is that all their songs basically tell a story

Secret + Whisper-Lovers. Lovingly referred to as Canada’s Saosin, I’m loving them lately.

Happy end of the workweek all (for some of us), enjoy a weekend filled with beautiful things! Xoxo

What's on my iPod v.8

Happy thursday loves :] Only one more day until the weekend! I have a big post full of photos coming up, but to tide you over until then (albeit a little late), here's what I've been listening to lately!

Dozens- Sounds of Your Lovers. This song is so catchy, I can’t help but sing to it whenever I hear it (even at work)!

New Navy- Tapioca. Australia continues to breed awesome bands, this is one of my faves (has a Two Door Cinema Club type of sound)

Skrillex- Summit. Dubstep is my guilty pleasure ;]

Paper Kites- Featherstone.

Boy- Little Numbers. I love these chicks! All their songs are pretty catchy, you should also listen to “Skin”

Have a great Thursday night, I’ll be enjoying it with my best friend and our babies trying out a new-to-us Vegan place called Wildflour :]

Xo!

Widowspeak - Half Awake

Snowmine - Curfews

The Shins - Simple Song

Low Roar - Patience

Thao and Mirah - Little Cup

never enough time

I've been meaning to blog for almost two weeks now; I'm sad I haven't gotten around to it. Yay for mobile blogging though! Since I last wrote, things have just been non-stop. Between my health issues and my bodys inability to fight anything off lately, I am exhausted. My body feels tired, overworked, and tense. Ari is sick as well, a cold with a pretty shitty cough. Work has been overwhelming. Taking care of this house has become increasingly overwhelming too. There's so much I need to get done (half-finished kitchen painting, etc) and there is just not enough time in the day. Expect a much more detailed post by the end of this week, that will include both What's on my iPod and Links You'll Like, and some interesting news ;) {along with a ton of pictures!} Xo happy wednesday!

What's on my iPod v.6

I’m in my weird music mode lately. I have 8 hours to listen to music a day (hello, work) so I keep adding to my collection the songs that I’m falling in love with. Here they are!

This song is so good. Night Moves kinda reminds me of Band of Horses, I think it might be the stray guitar riffs. Recommending- Horses

I’ve just started to listen to Avalanche City recently, but I can see them becoming a favorite of mine. I’m also loving the song “How Long”.

Any song that incorporates a piano in their music, I’m all over it. So it’s easy to see why I have this song on repeat! I like the song Ruin too.

If you liked the Lydia songs from previous posts, you’ll like the Cinema because this is the lead singer Matt Leightons newer project. I am obsessed with this song. The lyrics are typical Lydia-esque and I love it. “Come on, take it or leave it. Cause I don’t mean it like I say it, and you don’t say it like you mean it. Oh I’m sure we could”. Alsooo, listen to the song ‘She’s on my Arm Now’ or basically the whole cd. :]

The vibe I get from this song is along the lines of Lou Reed and Bob Dylan. Plus, a chick playing the guitar? So rad. The song ‘Get Away’ is really cool too.

Beach House reminds me of summer, and not just because their name has beach in it haha. Such a good song!

And just because this song makes me laugh:

Happy Wednesday! Xo

What's on my iPod v.5

This week I'm pretty excited haha. I absolutely love Circa Survive, specifically Anthony Green. I first saw them at the Worcester Palladium in 2005, obsessed ever since. Anywayyy, Anthony Greens newest solo album has recently come out, and it's so rad! Plenty different from the previous {you can tell he's off the drugs} but I'm posting my favorite three songs; give it a listen! And if you like it, buy Beautiful Things here. :]

{I also highly recommend 'Right Outside', 'When I'm on Pills' and 'I'll Love You No Matter What’}

I’ve also been listening to a lot of CANT as of late. CANT is a side project from Chris Taylor, the lead singer of Grizzly Bear. If you’re into floaty, melodic music, you’ll enjoy this.

{I’d also recommend the song ‘She Found a Way Out’}

I don’t know much about this band Capital Cities, but this song and the rest of their album is pretty neat.

Lykki Li! I love this girl. She’s a singer from Sweden, and all her music is just fresh.

{Recommending ‘Love Out of Lust’ and ‘Get Some’}

I’m seriously so in love with this song. Could listen to it on repeat (may or may not have already done that haha). Makes me think of someone… :]

The Perishers-Nothing Like You and I

The Honey Trees make some seriously wonderful music. Don’t write them off just because their name is a little strange! The lead singer sounds like a mix between Haley Williams from Paramore and Rilo Kiley with a more folk sound. Beautifulllll.

{Recommending ‘Finding Home’ and ‘Moon River Cover’- Breakfast at Tiffany’s is one of my favorite movies so I’m partial ;) }

And finally, We Are The Birdcage. This chick has a beautiful voice, and the lyrics to this song I’m sure everyone can relate to.

{Recommending ‘Two Left Feet’}

So that’s that! Enjoy xo

What's on my iPod v.4

Thursday edition because I'm a slacker!

Lately, I've been a little repetitive with my music choices. Can ya blame me?!

Bon Iver- Flume

Bon Iver- Creature Fear

I am so obsessed with Bon Iver. Like... I listen to them all the time, everyday. I start my mornings off with their cd. They are so good. I recommend any song by them, especially "For Emma", "I Can't Make You Love Me", "Towers" and "Holocene". Or, just buy the albums For Emma, Forever Ago and Bon Iver and be happy forever.

Walk the Moon- Anna Sun
I really don't know much about this band, but this song is so upbeat, can't help but sing along :]

Angus and Julia Stone- I'm Not Yours
Love this brother and sister duo. This song strikes a chord with me, and it's just one of those good songs you play when you're sad. Their other music is rad as well, so I'm recommending "Lonely Hands".

Harvard-Ghosts

Harvard-An End Weight

Harvard is another band I've become obsessed with. I've listened to the song "On with Disease" for a while, but never anything else until recently. Unfortunately for me, because they are great. Kind of along the lines of Circa with the guitars, I can't even get enough. Recommend "French Girls", "What We Had", and "Deliverance".

The Stills-Retour a Vega
I looove French music. I used to rock out to the Logic Will Break Your Heart cd in high school whenever I'd go on "adventures", such a good Canadian band! Recommending "Yesterdays Never Tomorrows" and "Of Montreal".

Foster the People-Waste
Such a catchy song haha, this band is new to me thanks to my brother in law Ryans obsession with the song "Pumped Up Kicks", which is what my recommendation is because that's a really good song too.

Lydia-Stay Awake

Lydia-Best Nights

Aaaaand, finally, Lydia. Well worth the listen, both albums - Illuminate and Paint It Golden. They're so relatable, I love them.

Enjoy :]

Current Features

So I currently have two features that have been more like monthly features. Starting this month, expect them weekly!

Bringing it back it starting on Fridays, Links You'll Like is a collection of a weeks worth of links I find interesting or just want to share with ya'll. :]

My personal favorite, What's on my iPod will happen on Wednesdays! Basically this feature is just a collection of my current music obsessions

And, in the spirit of the holiday season, a new feature for December!

For the next 25 days, starting tomorrow (the 1st!) I'll be making posts on things I find beautiful, whether a picture, a story, anything. Get involved guys! Send me your beautiful thoughts and ideas!

xoxo

20 October 2011

What's on my iPod V.3

I haven't done one of these in over 4 months! Here are a few songs that I'm currently addicted to:

I Can Make a Mess- Something That Produces Results.
The cool thing about this song is that the lead singer from the Early November is the lead singer of I Can Make a Mess, and also has a solo project, Ace Enders. This is a re-make of one of Early Novembers best songs!
Honorable mention: Connected.

Feist-How Come You Never Go There
This song is classic Feist. It’s from her new album recently released this month, Metals. The album has a different feel from her previous ones, but definitely worth the time to listen.
Honorable mention: Bittersweet Melodies.

Deer Tick-Make Believe
If you can buy Divine Providence (album), or see them live, DO IT! You will not be disappointed. Deer Tick is from my state, Rhode Island, and they are awesome.
Honorable mention: Walking out the Door.

Matt Pond PA-Locate the Pieces
I’ve recently discovered Matt Pond PA within the last year, and I’m so glad I did! The lead singer is from New England (!), relocated to Pennsylvania, and started the band. From the album “Last Light”.
Honorable mention: People Have a Way.

City and Colour-Little Hell
This song is perfection. City and Colour is one of my favorite bands (who I am so lucky to be going to see in December!) and their new cd is just amazing.
Honorable mention: Northern Wind.

Maps + Atlases-Solid Ground
Great band, great music, awesome song! Ari loves this one :)
Honorable mention: Living Decorations.

Margot and the Nuclear So + So’s-Talking in Code
One of my favorite songs. I will recommend this song/cd to anyone that likes good music.
Honorable mention: Skeleton Key.

And finally, because I’m going to see them tomorrow night in Northampton, a flashback:

Circa Survive-Always Getting What You Want, from the album ‘Juturna’.

Enjoy loves!

What's on my iPod v.2

Hi all! I'm happy to share what's been the soundtrack of my life this week :)

I love Adele! One of my top fave songs at the moment

I've posted another song by this band before {What You Know}, and I can't get over how catchy their album is

Like one of the comments say, can't help but close your eyes and jam by yourself :)

Probably the most awkward music video ever, but this song motivates me to keep going when I'm out running, etc.

Feist has a way of keeping your attention on the music. Beautiful

{bonus}

Ray Lamontagne is a musical genius. I'm guilty of playing this on repeat lol

Enjoy! And if you have a second could you please give me a vote by clicking on the voting banners in the sidebar? Thanks loveys xoxo

18 May 2011

What's on my iPod v.1

So I decided to do a little music post since I've been more obsessed than normal. Maybe it's because I get to listen from 9am-2pm? Anywayy, I put it on shuffle and these were the first six songs. I youtube'd them so you can listen, too!

#1. One of the best songs I've probably ever heard in my life. Dallas Green is amazing, his band is City and Colour, previous frontman for Alexisonfire. I'm pretty much in love. Another awesome song by him is called Coming Home. I seriously can't even listen to that one anymore, or even think about it without crying. Aah memories.

#2. One of the newer songs added to the iPod, but what an interesting song! lol it will definitely get you dancing, Ari and I love it

#3. Lou Reed of the Velvet Underground, this song is perfect. From 2:14 in the video on, especially the instrumental part with the piano at 2:21, wow. If I ever get married, this will be that song. Simple, and perfect.

#4. Black Eyed Peas did a good job with this song, and every time I hear it I want to go dancing!

#5. There's been countless remakes of this one, but My Brightest Diamond does my favorite (aside from Muse)

This song reminds me of high school and not being there ever lol. Jakob Dylan is perfect, and so is this song

I'd love to have some music recommendations? I enjoy anything and everything! Xo
